The Great Hall Yarn Painting

This is my favorite of my "yarn paintings'. It is on the wall of my office and is about 1 1/2' by 2'. I can't really see well enough to do either needlepoint, embroidery or crewel embroidery without making myself crazy, so I just fill in my pictures with yarn. It gets looks of disdain from "real" needle artists, but creativity and inventiveness are virtues I both possess and value more than simple skill.

The people above are:

Across the top: Larisa, Lawrence, Josephine, Lorin
Off to the right: Shannon O'Neill
On the left, top to bottom: Peter, Jocelyn, Percy, Eril the Dane, Horsa, Horsa's wife
On the right, top to bottom: Rory McGuinness, Cerridwen, Falni, Ranigg, an unknown woman, Leofwen
Lower right: A serving woman and Elerde of Brittany

Next: Back to the stories.
